It's one of my fovourite animes

year 1984. length 101 episodes , genre romance/sports/comedy


First the bad parts. The anime is old , was made 20 years ago so the animation quality is not good. But don't let the bad( not really bad, just old) animation deter you from watching one of the best animes ever.

Music is ok types , not too good nor too bad .

Story: It's a story of three neighbors - two brothers and a girl nest door. How they grow up together. The brothers are twins -older one(Uesugi Tatsyua) a lazy bum who does nothing, leaves all the glory and good parts for his younger brother and the younger brother (Uesugi Kazuya) a hard worker , top of his class and the star pitcher for his school baseball team.

It's a sports anime and it's about baseball but don't think that is all there is to it. I'll rather classify it as a romance anime first, then a sports anime.
The interaction between the three main characters is the main theme but that does not mean that sports is neglected.


The story is good evenly paced and adds a new element everytime . How else they could have made a 101 eps. long anime still intresting enough.
It's a beautiful, relaxing anime.


Anyone who has not seen this one and likes romance animes should definitely watch it.
Others also should watch it as it is one of the highly rated anime.

Terrible shame that..... definitely one of Adachis defining works.... two thumbs up.... but yeah... you have to be able to like old school animation to enjoy this show.... most people seem to have problems with that.... which is sad... most of my faves (such as this one) tend to be from the 80's and early 90's....

He has done many series.

Touch, H2, Miyuki, Hiatari Ryokou, Cross Game, Katsu, Niji Ga Togarashi (pretty sure I got that spelling completely wrong), Itsumo Misora, and some others which I cant recollect right now. All are pretty darn good IMO.

I've read Touch, H2, Cross game, Katsu, Niji Iro Togarashi (yeh you did get it wrong), Miyuki, Nine and Rough
